Giving the Gift of Green

Everyone loves to both give and receive gifts, however once someone has adopted a green lifestyle, it becomes a bit more difficult to find something special for those people. Fortunately, there are many different websites dedicated to allowing you to shop for only green gifts. Still, some people prefer the option of shopping in person rather than over the Internet. For those people there are specialty shops that serve up all kinds of organic goodies, everything from cookies and cakes to hemp clothing and jewelry made from recycled products.

As these green gifts become increasingly more in demand, the stores that produce them become more common, permitting those who live outside of major cities to shop for organic products without having to expend the fuel to drive long distances to the nearest specialty shop. Sometimes you can even find these green gift items at your local organic grocery store.

Some of the most popular green gift items for someone who has already adopted a greener lifestyle are products that are made from plant based materials such as flowers and herbs. These products include body care products such as lotions, shower gels, bath salts, candles, and everything else that the special person in your life needs in order to retreat and relax in a spa-like environment in their own home. For someone who likes a little more luxury in their life, a gift certificate to an organic spa might be just the gift for making them feel special. There are many different spas that specialize in green treatments that use only organic products.

Another green gift option is purchasing clothing and jewelry that is made out of hemp. Hemp is a natural plant that can be woven into material that is just as comfortable and durable as synthetic fibers, however it is easier to clean and does not have a large impact on the environment. Clothing produced from synthetic fibers is produced in an environment that is detrimental to our global environment. Green or organic clothing is produced using raw materials such as hemp or raw cotton that is grown locally and is produced in the most eco-friendly manufacturing environment possible.

Green gifts do not stop at clothing or luxury body items. There are also green options for jewelry as well that are made exclusively from recycled items such as metals, glass and plastics. One of the more interesting options is jewelry that is made exclusively from old electronic parts and batteries. Not only do they make an interesting statement in design and function, but they are also made from products that are not easily recyclable, such as batteries which will remain forever in a landfill if not used by other means. The batteries are hollowed out to remove all dangerous chemicals and are then used to decorate necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in much the same way as beads would be used. Recycled glass can also be used to replace plastics and other decorative items in jewelry that would otherwise cause a larger impact on the environment.
